The Regional Assembly

The highest decision-making body is the Regional Assembly with its 59 members. The member municipalities elect representatives for a period of four years, the time between local elections.

The Assembly is responsible for the definition of policy both in regard to regional development and planning as well as protection of interests. It approves the provincial plan and programme as well as the regional physical plan of the Tampere Region.

The Assembly is responsible for the activities and the finances of the Regional Council. Also the Regional Board and the Auditing Committee are elected by the Assembly.
