Education

The scientific and technological community and the business sphere extend their influence over everything that takes place in the Tampere Region, and further afield.

The region has a higher level of education than the average for the whole country, and the main groups of migrants to the area are those either possessing or aspiring to a high level of education.

Social and health services, child care, opportunities for study and recreation and everyday welfare are all important considerations when choosing where to live.
The Tampere Region now has the second greatest concentration of educational institutions in the country: with two universities, various research institutes, three polytechnics, a number of vocational schools for different trades and professions and some forty upper secondary schools.

The teaching provided at the comprehensive school level already takes account of the challenges posed by the information society and the expansion in international relations.
